Michigan for Better Elections

Empowering Voters Through Fair and Open Elections

About Michigan For Better Elections
Michigan For Better Elections is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to transforming Michigan’s electoral system to better serve all Michigan voters. We believe that every Michigander deserves a voice in our democracy, and we work tirelessly to remove barriers that limit voter choice and participation. Our mission is to advocate for systemic reforms that make elections more open, fair, and representative of the diverse perspectives within our state.
We focus on three core reform initiatives: promoting a top-four open primary that allows all voters to participate regardless of party affiliation, advancing ranked-choice voting to ensure candidates reflect voters’ true preferences, and reducing corporate influence in elections to restore power to the people. Our reforms are based around the American anti-corruption act, a model legislation that would fix our broken elections.

Our Platform

Open Primaries
We advocate for a single top-four open primary elections that allow all voters to participate regardless of party affiliation, ensuring that every voice is heard in the primary process and expanding voter choice.

Ranked-Choice Voting
We promote ranked-choice voting systems that allow voters to rank candidates by preference, ensuring that elected officials truly represent the will of the majority and reducing polarization in politics.

Reducing Corporate Influence
We work to limit corporate influence in elections through advocacy for campaign finance reform and transparency measures, ensuring that elected officials represent the interests of voters rather than special interests.
